RIFLE SHOOTING.

The Christchurch Defence Rifle Club fired their first short range competition of the season at Tai. Tapn on Saturday afternoon. 1 The weather was fine', but a tricky .wind-had a few competitors thinking hard. The results were bb follows: —

NEW BRIGHTON MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB. The annual presentation of prizes and smoke ■ concert were held in the Surf Club's rooms last Saturday night. The patron, Mr A. W. Owles, presided over an attendance of about thirty members and friends. During the evoning the following list of toasts was honoured:—The King, the N.Z.M.E.A. (proposed by the president, Mr Herick, and responded .to by Mr; li. Pimm), the prize■winners, donors of prizes, Ladies' the coaches, the Major and patron. The prizes won during the season were presented by the patron. During the evening presentations were also made to the coach, Mr V. Tims, atid the secretary, Mr E. ■ Diehl, in recognition of their services' during tho season.
