British Air Manoauvres. Rugby, August 12.—Throe hundred aircraft and reaeTvCs and ground units of the regular and territorial Army will participate in air exercises over London 'and the Home counties this week. Tlio exercises are to be conducted to test the efficiency of, and provide practice'for, all units engaged on defence against air attacks, and to test also the system of observation, intelligence, and communications—British Official Wireless.
French Inventor's Death. Pays, August IS.—The death has occurred of Senator Lazare Weiller, aged seventy-six, inventor of the automatic taximeter. He introduced the telephone in, France.—Australian Press Association. Prince George's Appointment.
Rugby, August 13.—Tile King's youngest son, Prince George, sailed from Southampton yesterday for Quebec on the Canadian Pacific liner Empress of Australia to take up his appointment as interpreter in French to the American and West Indies Station. He will be attached to H.M.S. Durban. — British Official Wireless.
Mr Baldwin on Holiday. Rugby, August 12.—-The Prime Minister and Mrs Baldwin left London this morning for Aix les Bains, where they propose to stay for about five weeks. Official Wireless.
