MAGISTERIAL.
MONDAY. (Before Sir E. D. iloslev, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. A first offender and two statutory first offenders for drunkenness were each fined 20s and costs, in default 24 hours' imprisonment. Another first offender was fined 10s, in default 2*l hours' imprisonment. WIWUL DAMAGE. James Alexander McClintock, on a charge cf drunkenness, was convicted and discharged, and on a charge of wilfully damaging a cell can he was ordered to pay the amount of the damage, 15s, in default 2-1 hours' imprisonment. TRAFFIC CASES. for speeding, the following were fined:— Jack Illingworth, £2 and costs; John Percy Smith, £2 and costs; and E. S. Dark £2, his license being cancelled for a period of 12 months; John ilcKenzie, £3 and costs. For permitting vehicles to be used without being duly licensed, the following were fined:—Charles Hunter, £2 and costs; Arthur Perkins, costs only; and Ernest Stocks, 10s and costs. For driving motor-cars with the tail-lights not on the right-hand side of the car, the following were convicted and discharged:— Alfred Banks, Ellis Harper, G. G. Jackson, Horatio Lawson, H. S. Muschamp, John Papps, G. J. Pither, Eric Shaw, Harry Taylor, B. J. Tench, Harry Walker, A. J. Warren, and William Wilson. For operating motor-vehicles with noisy exhausts, C. F. Smith was fined £2, and Frank Wilson £2 and costs. Cuthbert F. Roberts and Alex. Mill were each fined 10s and costs for cycling at night without a light. On a similar charge, Cyril Shaw was fined 10s. W. F. Collins, for obstructing the traffic, was fined 10s and costs. M. 11. Dickie, for driving a motor-cav without having a motor-driver's license, was fined 5s and costs. A. W. Frith, for motor-cycling on the footpath, was fined 10s, while T. J. Barkman, for riding a bicycle on the footpath, was similarly finod. The Christchurch Tramway Board was fined £2 and costs for overloading an omnibus. A NON-SUIT POINT. Reserved judgment on a non-suit point was given by Mr E. D, Moslcy, S.M., in a case in which W. G. Smith claimed £24 from the Norwich Fire Insurance Society, Ltd. The non-suit point was not upheld, and the case was adjourned sine die. (Before Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M.) MAINTENANCE CASES. Albert Edward Harwood, for disobedience! of a maintenance ord?r in support of his wife, was convicted and sentenced to one month's imprisonment, tha warrant to bo suspended so long as defendant pays 5s a week off arrears, in addition to .current maintenance. For lieing £5 12s 6d in arrears oil a maintenance order, Frederiok James Jones was convicted and sentenced to fourteen days' imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended so long as defendant pays Bs a week in addition to the amount of tke order.
There was no appearance of Albert Henry Sr.ook, charged with disobeying a maintenance order in respect to liis wife; He was fined £2.
Arthur Greening, who was £l6 16s in arrears on a maintenance order, was convicted and sentenced to seven days' imprisonment.
