yhi and Mi?, JYi'i'CT (Auckland) are vixiting the West Coast. The deatii occurred to-day of Mrs Mary Harper, a well-known resident of Stillwater at the age of seventy-one years. She is survived by her husband and a grown-up family. Lost and Found. liaviil. Clark, aged sixteen years, who had been missing from his home iu Ward street, Cobden, since Thursday, turned up on .Saturday. His younger sister went under the house in search of kindling wood when she found her brother lying down in a semi-conscious condition. The missing boy was seen in Greymouth on Thursday evening. It is understood that he was suffering from loss of memory. He received medical attention, and is making a good recovery. Another boy, Claude William Millar, aged 13 years, who had been missing from his home in Marsden road since Xew Year's day, was found to-day in Tainui street. He spent the night at Runanga and when found was on his way to his home. The Weather.
During December the rainfall registered at Greymouth totalled 3.41 iuehes with rain on eight days, the maximum fall being on December 7th, with 106 points. The rainfall for the previous year's corresponding period was 5.G9 inches with rain on fourteen clays, the maximum fall 011 one day being 115 points. Train Accident. A middle-aged man, Michael O'Brien, residing in foundry Jane, Greymouth, was knocked down in the railway cutting near the Grey Hospital by the train which left Greymouth for liotfitika at 6.45 o'clock this evening. The train was immediately brought to a standstill, and O'Brien was conveyed to the hospital. He is suffering from severe shock, but his condition is not serious. O'Brien's wife is also an inmate of the hospital. * Grey Power Board. The annual survey ond overhaul of the Grey Electric Power Board's machinery and plant is being carried out during the holidays, and will be completed on Wednesday. Building Trade. Present indications point to the building trade in Greymouth being very brisk for some months. In addition to two large brick buildings now in course of erection in Mackay street, a contract has been let to Mr J. A. Hart, of Greymouth, for the re-erection in brick of business premises in Mawhera quay for McGruer and Co., Ltd., drapers, which will replace the building destroyed by fire some time ago. Customs Duty. The Customs duty collected at Greymouth during December, amounted to £2647 13s 3d.
