HOCKEY TOURNAMENT. The following is tho draw iu connexion with the Geraldino County Hockey Sub-Association's tournament to-day:— Ladies' Senior: Geraldine v. Winchester; Ashburton v. Stafford; Celtic, a byo. Men's Senior: School v. Pairlie; Southern v. Cambridge; Union v. Trinity. Ladies' Junior: Geraldine v. Albury; Fairlio High School v. Winchester; - Aorangi v. Temuka. Men's Junior: Indians v. Union; Temuka v. School; Southern, a bye. Wedding. A wedding of interest was celebrated at the Geraldino Presbyterian Church when Mr J. S. C. Thomas, of Blenheim, only son of Mr and Mrs E. J. Thomas, of Spreydon, Christchurch, was married to Miss Vera M. Bates, fourth daughter of Mr A. H. Bates, Woodbury road, Geraldine. The Rev. J. Dawson Madill, M.A., was the officiating minister. Tho bridesmaids were Misses Elsio Thomas, only sister of tho bridegroom, and Betty and Peggy Bennett, twin nieces of the bride. Little Nancy Bates, another niece, was flower-girl. Mr Angus McKay was best man. After the ceremony a reception was held in the Masonic Hall. Bowling. At a general meeting of the Geraldine Bowling Club it was decided to enter one team in the Thursday competition, and one in the Saturday. It was also agreed to enter for the Bristol Cup if the present conditions were adhered to. Skips were elected as Thursday G. Watts, R; Stoek, B. Hayes, and W. Hamilton; Saturday matches —Messrs J. Campbell, H. Cairiis, J. D. McKechnie, and D. L. Hatton. It was decided to open the green on the first Thursday in October. A report was received from the official bowl-tester in Christchurch, which showed that out of 20 sets sent up from Geraldine for testing, 1G had had to be altered. FAIRLIE. During the past week hue spring weather was experienced. Slight frosts have been registered, and havo had tho effect of retarding growth. On Tuesday morning rain commenced to rail, and continued more or less steadily throughout the day. The vain was welcome, us tho soil was in a fairly dry condition. Lambing is now becoming general, and lambs, axe to be seen in all parts of the district. Given fine weather, a good percentage is anticipated ■On Monday night a trophy was fired for by the , local rifle club, S. Dobson being the winner with a score of 34. The following are the scores: —W. H. Cook 33, W. Close 35. W. Dorm an 33, S. Ryder 3-5, W. T. Bourn 33, J._ O. Fri'ser 34. S. Dobson 34, H. A\elsh 31, A. Dale 33. J. Tlionmson 33, T. Toomes 33, W.
