RAILWAY PICNIC.
A SUCCESSFUL OUTING. Tho annual picnic of the local railway service staff wag hold at Waihora Park during tho week-end, and proved ono of tho most successful gatherings vet held. Fully 1500 persons were conveyed in the largest passenger train which has run on the branch. The children wcro specially catered tor at the picnic by a largo and enthusiastic committee, and a general sports programmo was provided for tho ndiilts. Mr F. T. Bishop (president). Mr C. Pope (treasurer), and Mr W. S. E. Moylo (secretary) had generous assistance from a capablo committee. The adult programmo resulted as' under: — Hallway Handicap, 100yds—First heat: H. Dawson 1, C.
