The Sheffield Shield match, New South Wales against- Victoria, was continued in showery weather. Now South Wales in their first innings made 469 (Kippax not out 2171. ■Bowling for Victoria, Morton took two for 129, Blackie two for 120, and Mullett two for 45. Victoria had lost two wickets for sixteen runs when stumps wore drawn. Tho start was delayed owing to the state of tho wicket, the foothold for bowlers being precarious. Kippax played carefully till ho reached his second century. This is his fourth double century against Victoria. The latter opened badly, losing two wickets for sixteon when nn appeal against tho bad light was upheld. Hendry, out, made seven.
VICTORIA DEFEATS TASMANIA. (AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) (Received January 27th, 11.20 p.m.) MELBOURNE. January 27. The cricket mutch between Victoria and Tnsmania ended in a victory tor Victoria by an innings and 78 runs, Tasmania scoring 252 and 222 in successive Btrikcs.
