BRASS BAND FOR PAPANUI.
A mooting -ttas held on Thursday to conaider forming a Brass Band in Papauui. Mr Eeynolds acted as chairman, and said he considered the time opportune, as '■ e was a demand and need for a band in Papanui. A set of seventeen Instruments was at present obtainable at a low price. If a committee were formed he felt sure that the money could be raised by pnblic effort. Mr Hanson stated that ho had had many years' experience as a player, and would undertake to form a good band inside twelve months if twenty or thirty young men over the ace of sixteen joined np. Mr Hall, president of the South Island Bands Association, spoke strongly in favour of the pronnsal and offered his services. Messrs DalP La «„n also supported the movement.
