THE "NEW ALADDIN."
J. C. WILLIAMSON'S BRILLIANT PANTOMIME. -The "New Aladdin" is a pantomime in two acts. The book is written by Krncst C. Rolls. Music by Horman and Max Darewski. Presented by William A. Hassan. . Who can resist the lure of that word "Pantomime" i It is the form of. entertainment which for years has introduced the youngsters to the glamour and the witchery of thoso wonderful "Arabian Nights," arid has lent that peculiar charm to the fairxtales that never grow old. It is the "Peter Pan" of tho theatre, the-.beautiful ..land, of'make-believe, where daring,, venturesome youth seeks.- his fortune, in a "wonderfully' picturesque way. and. finding it, marries tho lovely Princess, and lives happily over afterwards. So it is in the J. C. Williamson newest version of tbo eyer-en-thralling story of "Aladdin," who, outwitting the crafty Abanazar, -finds pearls and rubys beyond price, wins-and weds the .beautiful Princess Zobeide, and puts himself and his funny old mother on Easy. Street. There is no great disparity in pantomimes that bear tbo imprint of J. C. Williamson, and the "New Aladdin" is said to be a very brilliant show, and a capital entertainment, thanks to lavish mountings, gorgeous dresses, plenty of fun, bovies of beautiful cirls, and a most wonderful cat. ■ Aladdin- finds- a capablo and youthful exponent in Ploio Allan, who.hitherto has been chiefly known to. N'ew Zealand audiences in musical comedy. -Petite, charminr, and vital,- Miss Allan cuts a neat- figure, ami .wears the_insignia of the- principal boy with graceful-insouciance. Mr Bruoo Green makes a very 'spirited. Widotf. Twankey, «:hn captivates his audience, not only with his forceful humour, but also with a dazzling array of ridiculous costumes. One of Mr Green's biggest laughing hits is "Our Avenue." The element of comedy is largely fomented by the comedy of Mr Gus Bluett, as Widioe. His agile dancing is appreciated by all. Among.it tho outstanding novelties are the performance by the Williamson Girls, who go through a number of picturcsquo poseß in mid-air, which concludes..with ft .series of flights forward over the hcads'of those of tho audionco in the front stalls. Tho El Radiants is an electric novelty, in which quaint figures, rats, gigantic owls, and other weird figures deport themselves on the stage. Tho dances in the production are arranged by Miss Minnie Evorctt. i The box plans open this morning nt The Bristol. There will bo two matinees, Wednesday ami Saturday v 'Miiy I.2th and 15th.
