WAIMAKARIRI LODGE, 1.0.0. F.
A special meeting (under Grand Lodgo Dispensation) of the recently-formed Lodge of tho Independent Order of Oddfellows, N.Z., was held in the Orange Hall on Tuesday evening. Bro. Win. Broadley (Grand Lodge representative) presided over a largo attendance, including Bro. Chas. Rentoul, D.D.G.M., and District Officers from Christehurcli; ilso Bro. E. D. Howe, N.G., and officers from Star of Rangiora Lodge. Eleven candidates were initiated Into the Orders in an impressive manner, and twelve more were proposed for membership. It was resolved to register the branch at tho Waimakariri Lodge, to be instituted by Grand Officers, on Hay 2Bth. when the first officers will be installed pubticly _ i_n_ the presence of a large gathering of visiting sisters, brethren, members, and lady friends. It was resolved to conclude the ceremony with a social evening and dance. The visiting brethren were entertained _ by thG locM members a t supper prior to join•ns ia "Auld Lapg Syne." The first officers (16) will be elected next week, and the branch will be Opened with over 30 members.
