SIR HEATON RHODES.
RECOGNITION OF SERVICES. Mr H. Neave, of Leeston, horn secretary of the committee which has is hand the arrangements for the garden party and banquet to be tendered to the Hon. Sir E. Heaton and Lady Bhodes next Tuesday, has received letters from the Pritae Minister and the \y. Noeworthy and A. D. MoLeod acoepting invitations to both functions. It is expectea that other members of the Cabinet will also be present. Both functions are being looked forward to with keen interest by , people in all parts of the; Ellesmere electorate, and it is apparent that the two gatherings will be amongst the most notable; ever held in the district. Hie garden: party will be neld in the afternoon; in the beautiful grounds at Meadow--bank, by permission of Captain Tahu Rhodes.- No charge will be made'for admission, and the presentation to Sir Heaton will be made during the afternoon. - Judging by the number of ladies and' gentlemen who have already obtained tickets for the banquet, the' Lees ton Town Hall will pot be large enough for® this function, and it will most likely be necessary to hold it in the Farmers' Co-operative Association's large store at the Lake road railway siding. A definite decision regarding this matter will be made at a ineeting of the committee to be held' in Chrißtchurch t it afternoon, when full details for both the garden party and the banquet will be settled.
