MAGISTERIAL. TUESDAY. (Beiore Mr H. A. Young, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. Drunkenness charges were admitted by two first-effendijig labourers, who were convicted ard fined 10s. BEEACH OF PROBATION. "Convicted and fined £5, in default one n-'octh's imprisonment," said the Magistrate, when dealing with Joseph William Groom, aged 22 years, labourer, Christchurch, who was charged with a breach of the terms of his release on probation under the Offenders Probation Act, 1920. PAPANUI GIRL'S LAPSE. Because of her youth, the name of a nine " teer.-year-cld Papanui girl, who admitted having stolen a letter containing a cheque for £7 2s 6d, was suppressed from the papers. "The postman put a letter in a neighbour's letter-box, and this young girl took it from the box at the front gate," said Chitf-Detective T. Gibson. "The letter contained a cheoue from a land agent, and this she cashed and spent the money on dress and sweet?." She was convicted and admitted to probation for twelve months, a tpeciai term being that the stolen money be icturned to the neighbour. MEN, REMANDED. Crum to act on a forged cheque for ti at Eangiora in November last, as if it were genuine. STOLE 14 CABBAGES. There was no .appearance of Ernest Edward Haiper, Lake Coleridge (wLo was represented by Mr C..S. Thomas), in answer to a charge of Laving stolen 14 cabbages, valued at 4s, the property of William Martin, Belfast. He was convicted and fined £5 and ccsts, and allowed 14 days in which to pay. REMOVED A TARPAULIN. On a charge of having removed a tarpaulin from the railway station at Chertsey, Irederick Richards was convicted and fined ±J a-id costs. LANGUAGE. "Not guilty," pleaded, Richard Patrick Neylon, of Eaton Place, when charged witn having used obscene language and with Having, procured liquor during the currency ot a prohibition order last month. On the first charge Neylon was convicted and ordered to pay the costs, and ordered to come no for sentence it called upon. For the second offence he was convicted ana directed to pay costs. REFORMATIVE DETENTION. Charged with having stolen a suitcase, a-kit-bag, and a quantity of clothing, valued at £lO, in January, Hugh Goodlet, aged 32 years, labourer, pleaded guilty. Goodlet was convicted and ordered to oe dotained for reformative treatment for a period not exceeding a year. ■ GIRL STEALS BICYCLES. An Australian domestic, aged 19 years, Christchurch (publication of whoso name was suppressed), was charged with having stolen, two women's bicycles, one valued at -b and another at £4, in February last.
