OBITUARY.
CANON C. H. ROBINSON. (BI CAJLI—P4ESS .ASSOCIATION— COPTJUSHT.) (BBCTTEa's TILEOaAKS.) LONDON, November 23. The death has occurred of Canon 0. H. Rdbinson, Canon, of Ripon, and well-known author, agod sixty-four. ■ [Canon Charles Henry Robinson in 1592 travelled extensively in Armenia for the purpose of compiling a report to the Archbishop of Canterbury, and in 1893-1895 he led a pioneer expedition to Kano, the commercial centre of the Central Sudan, starting by way of the Niger after making an ineffectual attempt to cross tthe Sahara Desert from the north. He was an authority on the Hausa language and published textbooks thereon; he was lecturer in Hausa at the University of Cambridge from 1896 to 190 G. He published many works on missionary activities and theological subjects.] News has been received from London of the death of Francis William Davenport, second son of the late Joseph Lancelot Davenport, of Wildersloe Park, Derbyshire, and grandson of the late Joseph Lancelot Davenport, of Bramel Hall, Cheshire, and brother of Dr. Harold Devereux Davenport, of Coalgato.
