I am assured of careful administration by cur municipal guardians, ! oven though it seems that the gasworks j are in need of repair, and other improvements fail to come as quickly as wo would like. But that is due not to neglect, but, re unfortunate circum-.st'-.nces. Why attribute, an abnormal rainfall, with its attendant discomforts, to human acency? It was assuredly an act of God. Having had a share of flooding, I can safely refer to it, bub I possessed sufficient commonsens© to realise cause and effect. As a digger I object to even the slightest suggestion of disfavour in regard to our Peace ! Memorial lights. How absurd to state I that Sumner is woefully neglected in the j matter of street illumination ! Whether | wholly hit-sed or just a little put i out. it. were letter that, "New Settler"' [ had taken passage on the Annie Hill. ; As a comparatively old settler and one who came back fiom tho war to appreciate the borough more than ever, I derive pleasure in writing thus. —Yours, etc..
