SUMNER TRAM BRIDGE.
TO TS% EDIIOK OF "lEB FESSS.™ Sir,—The Tramway Board ha: announced its intention of laying temporary tracks round the road during the rebuilding of the Sumner bridge. This will nnt. only invo've considerable osDfnsr, 'but will mean the destruction of that fine stretch of asphalt "road which wr. owe to the generosity of Mr !■'. N. Adams. Further, to run trams round corners will make this place a veritable death-trap for motorists and pedestrians . alike. I bf.ff. therefore, to put forward the suggestion that the Board should run. buses from'the Sumner'terrninus to Conner; with the trams at Misg Bock loop. I recognise the difficulty regarding the two .electric cars at present in Sumner, but it should be possible to take them acros.- the bridge before dismantling opera*ions proceed.—Yours, etc.,
