SUMMER TIME.
SUPPORT BY CRICKETERS. The Cricket Associations are to bo asked by the New Zealand Cricket Council to support a suggestion that a "summer time'' scheme should be adopted by the IXominion. The New Zealand Sports Protection Heagu'e wrote to the Management Committee- of the New Zealand Cricket Council as follows : "There will be very little time to secure* the support of Parliamentary candidates for legislation making provision for 'summer time' similar to what has been permanently fixed in the United Kingdom. I trust that your organisation is taking steps to submit a. question to candidates similar to the one suggested a little time ago by the League.'' The chairman. Mr D. Reese, said he had been visited by tennis men who were enthusiastic about daylight saving. He had said that, while sporting men were in favour of the scheme, it had not yet-been decided whether it was the best tiling for the country. Sporting men should not take up a selfish attitude, kit should do what was best for the Dominion. Mr E. 11. Caygill: If anyone should organise daylight saving, front the cricket point of view, it should be the New Zealand Council. Mr Reese said the Council had already stated that- it was in favour of theproposal, and it should forward its decision to the Associations. Mr Caygill moved that the Council should t>ass on a copy of the Sports Protection League's" letter to the affiliated associations, advise that the Council had decided to favour the proposal and ask each association to support it to the best of its ability. The motion w.s carried.
