In the Dennistoun case judgment was,| reserved concerning the question of costs and other legal points.
While two men, Walter Bates and James Lambe, were engaged in digging a hole near a sinter plant at the Mount Morgan copper works, the plant broke away, burying both of--them to the waiat in molten ore. Bates succumbed to his injuries, and Lambe's condition is critical.
The steamer City of Singapore, in which a disastrous explosion occurred last year, has been restored to seagoing trim. She will loa-ft Port Adelaide shortly in charge of two Dutch tugs for an unnamed European port.
Meeker's Peak, Colorado, a mountain high, is moving westward 2ft hourly. Scientists who examined the phenomenon declare that gravitation and underlying m,ud caused the motion, which totalled 100 yds in the past week. The progress of the motion is clearly discernible, waves of earth rolling 12ft to 20ft high.
Mr L. S. Amery (Colonial Secretary) and Sir Samuel Hoare (Director of Civil Aviation) arrived at Port Said on Thursday, and continued their airplane journey to Bagdad.

Owing to Mr Ramsay Mac Donald's absence 7 due to a cold, Mr J. E. dynes presided at the Labour Party's private luncheon to Mr P. Collier, Premier of West Australia. Mr Collier emphasised that the inspiration of the Australian Labour movement was derived from British Labour. Ho expressed the hope and belief that the Labour Party would win the Federal election.
Hugo Bettauc, editor of ''Dcr Tag," one of the most brilliant of Austrian novelists, died from wounds inflicted by an Austrian Fascist named Bothwell, who fired six shots at him a fortnight ago. Bettauer was detested by the Conservative elements owing to the radical tendency and unconventionally of his writings and the fact that he was a Jew. Deceased was bitterly denounced by the Fascists as an enemy of the country.
A Melbourne message says that as a result of the inquest on AVilliani Bent, :i railway clerk, aged 18, who was found shot at Lilydale, Howard Vernon was committed' for trial on a charge of wilful murder.
The steamer Ethyl, which has been by the American Chemical Society, sails from New York on April 18th on a voyage to extract bromine from ftie sea, in order to relieve the world shortage. If the expedition is successful, it may result in a fleet of vessels being equipped as chemical laboratories to roam the seas.
