Tlie accused was Madame of world-wide notoriety as the heiress, who received 1,000,000 dollars from Miss Fair Heller, of Bcston, on condition that she took charge of the latter's menagerie of wjid beasts. On the strength of the supposed legacy the accused borrowed 100,000 fraiics from Parisian business people. Tho will was pronounced to be a forgery and Madam© Leotardi was imprisoned.
