CASUALTIES.
A man named George Cook, sixty-five years of agio, was found' dead at Bis home, 8 Halkett street, early on Saturday morning. His wife is in the Christchureli Hospital. . He had complained of illness • during tho past few days, and it is supposed that his death was duo to heart trouble. Tie appeared to have collapsed while getting into bed ou Friday night. An inquest was held at tho Hospital by the Coroner, Mr Wyvern Wilson, S.M., last evening, for identification purposes,' and was adjourned until a later date. 'Roy Mills, of 336 River road, Avonside,' aged 'lo,' was riding'a bicycle on Saturday morning, when- he collided with another cyclist, receiving injuries to tho face and hand?. He was removed to the Hospital/where h© is progressing favourably. (rHESS ASSOCIATION rELia&AJIS.) ELTHAM, September 20. "I think somo people ought to be congratulated that there are not two inquests instead of one," commented Mr Mowlcm, Coroner, in returning an open verdict in regard to. the death of William Henry Hart, who was .killed bv being thrown against a wall through his apron being caught by the revolving main shaft at the Egmont Box Factory yesterday. Evidence was given ]>y an assistant, Douglas Bobert Gydc, that Hart instructed him not to wear an apron when in the shaft tunnel. Both he and Hart wore aprons yestcrdav. Mr Mowlcm said, that not the faintest blame was attached to the management. Hart had acted in contravention of his own instructions. If men took a risk they would have to pay the penalty. GISBOR3®, September 21. A plumber named Charles Edward Olding, fifty-two years of age, was found de3d in his workshop. The .deceased did riot return home last night and a search made this morning resulted in the body .boing found under an upturned tank and a tubing containing -ras was directed into the tank. For come, time past the deceased had suffered ill-health.
