CANTERBURY WOMEN'S CLUB.
The members of the Canterbury Women's Club were given a real literary treat on Saturday night, when a delightful programme, arranged by Mrs S. C. Owen, was given by membtrs of the play-ieading circle. Some very pleasing musical items gave variety to the programme, which was the first of its kind given at the club, but, judging by the appreciation of the audience, it was not by any means to be the last. The programme was as follows: — Vocal duets, "In Spring Time" and "When Song is Sweet (Newton), Mrs Tail and Mrs Bowker; play, "Defeat" (John Galsworthy), read by Mrs P. J. Dunne and Mrs Meade; pianoforte solo. "Mandolinata" (Saint-Saens), "Irish Lullaby" (Barron), Mrs Forrester, play, "The Dark Lady of the Sonnets" (Bernard Shaw), read by Mts Nelson Wright, and Misses Haig, •Stevens, and Grand; songs, "A Brown Bird Singing" (Hadyn Wood), "I Love the Moon" (Rubens), Mrs Bowker; recitation, Seene from "Will Shakespeare" (Clemance Dane), Mrs J. A. Newell. _ Amongst those present were Mrs H. Holland (president), Mrs S. C. Owen, Mrs T. D. Kendall, Mrs J. Forrester, Mrs H. J. Wyatt, Mrs J. E. - Russell, Miss Orchard, Mrs J. R. Evans, Mrs Burt, Mrs J. C. Newell, Mrs W. Brock, Mrs A. E. Smith, Miss Ironside; Mrs J' 11. Dickinson, Miss Barker, Mrs Ragg. Miss Grand, Mrs W. Broadway, Mrs Marshall, Miss Haig, Mrs . McNamar.i, Mrs J. I. Smail, Mrs F. C. Cowper, Mrs P. Dunn Mrs Graham, Mrs S. Dixon, Miss Liske, Mrs Pickles, Mrs 0. Harley, Mrs Edgar Turner, Mrs T. J.
