i Uedcliffs Mission Hail. ! A very successful social was held in | the Eedelifis Mission Hall on Thursdav J afternoon. A most enjoyable musical } programme, arranged by Mrs If. J. if-r- ---| riser, was fully appreciated. 1 were contributed by ?drs Cooke and I Mrs Mathcw, pianoforte solos by Mrs j Buston, and violin solos by Mrs Frver. • The autograph competition was won lv ; Mesdames G. Wood 3 and Morton Woods. [ Amongst those present were the viear J and Mrs Powell. Mesdames K. J. Marriner, Teppett, Kiky, L. Williams, Simpson, Graham, Cooksl-.-y. Williamson, G. Woods, M.Woods. Tut ill, McKay. Perrv. Hands, Morgan, W. A. Smith, Martin! Ashworth, Levey, MeKenzie, Maffov. Wynyard,'Rattray, Telford. Mr and Mrs Kirkpatrick, and the Misses Seuter. Holmes, and Martin. W.C.T.TJ. | The monthly met ting', held this week, j wan largely attended. Mrs McCombs j presided, and, after the devotional exer- ! cises. important business was dealt with I in connexion with the Provincial Convention, which is to be held in Sumner on September Oth and 10th. A Hospitality Committee was appointed, the members being Mesdames Booth (convener), William?, Ogier, McCombs, and Peek. Mesdames Booth and Fitzhenry were appointed dolegates to Convention. An address, given by Miss Shaw, proved most interesting and profitable to all j present. The speaker illustrated her I subject, "A Balanced Diet," with numerous diagram?, charts, and pictures. Afternoon tea was dispensed. A solo by Mrs Martin was very enjoyable. Bridge Club* The Bridge Club at JJedcliffs completed it;: first round on Monday night, when the members met at the house of Mr and Mrs L. E. Williams. The prizes for the highest score during the past, two months were presented, Mrs Williams and Mrs W. Johnstone being the winners. Mrs Teppett made the presentations, and congratulated the members on the success of the club. The last three meetings have been held at the houses of Messrs F. Hamilton, W. Johnstone, and A. W. Beavcn respectively. Personal. Miss Alix Kirk has returned from a holiday spent at Oamaru. Mr and Mrs 0. T. J. Alpers and family are staying at Haeremai. Mr and Mrs W. Lill have taken Colonel G. T. Smith's house on the JBsplanade. The many friends of Mrs G. C. Z. Hurris will bs pleased to learn that sho has been enabled to return to her home after her rec3nt illness.
