REDCLIFFS BURGESSES.
MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. Tho -annual meeting of tho Redciifto Burgcasca' Association wna held on Thursday, tlio president, s£r F. T. Eldridge, being in tho chair. Tho chairman reported, in reference to tho provision of a peat office, that negotiations wero still being conducted with the Po3tma3ter at Chrisichurch. It was decided to again write to the Sumner Borough Council regarding the provision of extra lighting in the district. The Sumner Borough Council wrote acceding to tho request, of the Association for an official to bo present at the Itedcliffs Library on the second Monday in the nion-a for tho purpose of collecting gas and electric light accounts. It was decided to write, thanking tho Council. Tho ennual report stated that among tho matters dealt with during tho year was tho provision of a drinking Up. The need for improved postal facilities had occupied a. groat deal of tho officers' attention, and, though up to the present not crowned with BUCCO3S, it was hoped that something definite would soon bo forthcoming. The matte of the reclamation of land along Estuary road had been before tho Association, and the Borough Council had a scheme in hand, plans were being preparod, and a definite scheme would be placed before the residents. During the year tho Hon.. Sir Heaton Rhodes had met the .vembera of the Association on the riflo range, but the Government had no funds for any -work on the range or the reserve at tho back. Tho Association was to be congratulated on tho outcome of its endeavours to obtain an up-to-date sewerage system for tho district. A poll ia to bo taken on August 13th. Tho election of officers for the ensuing year resulted:—President, Mr S. F. Marshall (pro tem): vice-presidents, Messjs F. T Eldridgo and J. Neilsen; committee, ilessra E. J. Hill, G. V. UeAllistcr, S. Thomas, and J. E. Saunders. The election of secretary was held over. Compllinentary references were made to tho work of the president and the secretary, Mr J. A. Rudg«,, who did not seek re-election, tho. thanks of the Association being patted to them. Tho members present resolved to givo every awis'tance in order to get a representative poll on Wednesday next. It was decided to write to tho Tramway Board asking if accommodation could not bo provided for waiting passengers at the Bamford street stop. Tho state of the footpath* in Augusta, Celia, Slater, and Pratt streets, and tho main road* near tho post office, was mentioned, and it was deoided to draw tho Council's attention to th«m.
