FIRES.
TWO SHOPS DESTROYED. (PBESS ASSOCIATION TELZQXAX.) WAIROA, July 25. A fire broke out r.Bout 12.30 o'clock this morning iu a shop owned by J. R. jßoss (Napier) and occupied by Simon OBaffol, a fancy goods dealer. The shop vras burnt to the ground, and also the adjoining shop and tea-rooms (Jebb's), owned by J. Mayo. Both were very old wooden buildings on the Marine Parade. A concrete block of shops adjoining prevented the firo frcm.spreading further. The insurances aro :-~-Jtaffol's ebock, £IOOO in the Commercial Office (estimated lose £IOOO above this); Mayo's, £6OO in the South 'British. Jebb's stock was uninsured, but "was mostly saved.
