SANITARY INSPECTORS.

ANNUAL MEETING OF CANTERBURY CENTRE.

The annual meeting oi the Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Sanitary Inspectors' Association was held recently. The report submitted by the secretary (Mr T. Tcmlinson) stated that the Centre was in a strong position, and that the membership had been well maintained. One member had bean transferred to Wellington during the year, 3 new members liad been elected, and 2 associate members had been admitted: the strength of the Centre was: 23 members, and i associate members. On March 3Uth Mr G. Georgeson had resigned the position of secretary, which had been taken by Mr C. V.". Jowb who, however, finding the duties too much for the

spare time at his disposal, had resigned on June lath, si.nce wkictt data Mr T. Tomlinsou had acted as secretary. Tho Syllabus Committee, Messrs L. A. Cox, and F. S. I'a-iwer, arranged an excellent programme which was as follows: —"The Cold Storage oi Food," Mr A. iL Wright; "Sanitation of Freezing Works," Mr Li. P. Symes; "Sanitary Surface of Wails of Dwellings," I\ir E. J. Beil; demonstration of milk analysis, Mr A. A. Bickerton; "Elementary Bacteriology," Dr. A. B. Pearson; and "The Egg-pulp Industry, ' Dr. T. Fletoher Telford. Thanks were recorded to the lecturers and to the committee. During the year the Ce:ntre elected its first honorary member in Dr. T. Fletcher Telford, Medical Officer of Health for Canterbury, and tho West Coast; every member appreciated having euch a good friend of the Association as a member. Thanks wero recorded to the Christchureh Drainage Board for placing a room at its offices at The disposal of the Centre gratia, for tho purposes of the

Centre's meetings. Reference wm made to the latest lieid conference of the tion at Wangaaui, and it was stated that the next conference would be held at Duacdin next month. The report was adopted.
