ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY.
The Christchurch Orchestral Society's first concert of the 1923 season. will be given in the Choral nail on Wednesday evening. An elaborate programme for the opening of the season has been arranged for tk« Society's full orchestra of 60 performers. The chief item of interest wild be the Hungarian Ehapsody No. 1 in F (Greig), and there'will also be included the popufar overture "Son and Stranger" (Mendelssohn), "Salut D'Amour" (Greig), "Norwegian Dances 1 and 2" (Greig), Suite "Woodland Pictures" (Fletcher), Marche et Cortege "La Seine de Saba" (Gounod). The soloist will be Miss Nancy Bowden, contralto, whose numbers will include songs "B?aut:ful Beatrice" (Mallinson), "Sappsiche Ode" (Brahms), "By the Sea" (Roger Quilter). The accompaniste will be Miss Aileen Warren. The box plan of reserved seats will be or>ened this morning at 9 o'clock at The Bristol. The list for the enrolment of. new subscribers is also at The Bristol, where intending members mav enrol and also reserve their seats for "Wednesday's performance.
