AKAROA. The last meeting of tile present p«Tßonnel of the AJtaroa Borough Council was iheld on Tuesday evening. Present—The Mayor (Mr ■k * k. Davis), and Crs. 11. W. Wilkins, C. Stewart, H. J. Bainham, X. Wilson, and W. Pool. Tlio Alcaroa Tennis Club wrote asking for a reduction of the claim of £lO for work done by the Council's staff on and -ibout tllo courts. The report' was adopted. Cr.'Barnham '.reported that th<> Canterbury Hospital and Charitable Aid Board had accepted a tender for the erection of the new lceal hospital in wood, the pr'ce being £6404. Councillors expressed gratification that the matter had received such prompt attention. On the motion of Cr. Stewart, the thanks of the Council woro accorded Superintendent Carter, of' Surnnw, for the practical interest he had shown while the borough's nejw motor fir<--fighteo: was being put together. This boing the last meeting of the. present Council, tho Maivor tlmnked councillors for their services on behalf of tho borough, and for their support during his few months' tenure of tb© chair.
