WATERED WICKET ENQUIRY. A meeting of the committee of the Canterbury Cricket Association was he d yesterday afternoon. Present: Messrs W. Simpson (chairman), It. x>. Ward, "W. L. King, J. E. R- Smith, end E. E. Luttreli. In reply to the Association's request for information regarding the statements whioh had appeared in a. Wellington paper, til 3 Wellington CricKet Association wrote stating that the practice of that body was not to treat newspaper reports as offio.al or authentic. However, the Wellington Association was anxious to 'get to the bottJiu of the matter of the watered wicket ailegar Hulls ana looKed to the Canterbury Association. to assist in clearing up the trouble. Copies of a report to the Wellington Association made by Mr D. C. C.iihn; (captain of the Wellington team), which h.ve already been submitted to the New Zea.and Cricket Council, and were considered in committee, were enclosed with the letter foe the information of the committee. A further letter was received from the New Zealand Cricket Council stating -that an enquiry would be held into the watered wicket allegations and asking the committee to appoint a representative to be present at such enquiiry. An informal discussion took place in cotamjttce on the contents of the communications, and it was finally decidid to appoint Mr R. B. Ward as the Association's representative at the enquiry. Messrs W. Simpson. R. B. Ward and Sinclair were appointed to meet the Hockey Association in a conference at which it ia hoped to reach some agreement regarding \the latter Association's payment of dues for the use of the Boys' Cricket Association gTounds at the Hospital Corner.
