I —♦ — CHORAL HALL TO-NIGHT. Prior to their departure for Australia j early in May, the Westminster Glee Singers ; give two final concerts in the Choral Hall : to-night and to-morrow, with a, matinee on : Saturday afternoon. Very remarkable auci cess has attended their visit to other SouthI era towns, -particularly Dunedin, where ten | performances were given, the final one on i Saturday iast resulting in a phenomenal | house and a remarkable farewell ovation. On the conclusion of its season, the company's record wii] reach well over 100 consecutive performances in New Zealand, which is a sufficient testimony to their universal popularity. To-night's programme will be entireI ly new, first hearings being given to a beau- ; tiful old Madrigal "Let me, careless ar.d : unthought-fu] lying," a delightful Pußtoral by Villiers Stanford, "Diaphenia,'' a selection , from "Carmen," embracing the "Soldiers' | Chorus" and the "Song of the Toreador," to- ! gether with the Vocal Waltz from "Faust.' ! For those interested in Cathedral singing, ! two celebrated anthems, "God is a Spirit" 1 (Sterndale Bennett), and "Give Ear Unto iMy Prayer" (Arcadelt), and a Christmas ; carol "Bethlehem" (Gounod) will be sung. ' National meiodies will be represented by a : set of Scottish airs for boys' voices, two I Irish folk-songs, "The Wind that Shakeß , the Barley," and "Believe Me if All," while other famous old songs will be "Where the Bee Sucks" (Arne), and Purcell's "Nymphs and Shepherds." The gentlemen of the party will contribute a series of humorous catches and comedy quartets.
