SPRINGS-ELLESMERE POWER BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the SpringsEllesmere Electric Power Board was held at Leeston on Monday. Present —Messrs J. Cunningham (chairman), H. Keave, E. T. McMillan, J. S. Simpson, E. H. Howell, J. "W. Kime, J. C. Free. The- electrical engineer, Mr L. C, Vicary, reported that he had Interviewed the district engineer for the Post and Telegraph Department regarding: the crossing at Croy's, Brookside. The coat of placing the telephone lines underground was estimated at £6. A chart had been, prepared showing the loading on the • Board's lines during the 24 hours. The peak load of 6G k.w. occurred at 5 p.m., whilst at 6.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. the loading was very little lower, and at 8.80 a.m. there was a load of G2 k.w. The estimated cost of Mr E. Chamberlain's lin.9 was £GO 2s, and Mr F. Chamherlain's £llß 6s 2d. Seventeen new installations had been connected and additions made to three existing installations. The electrical engineer reported that pumping and battery-charging motors wero wrongly used during lighting hours. It was decided that all motors working urdcr restricted hours should have time-switches installed.. Tho Public Works. Department requested the Board to stata its terms for supplying Biirnha.m Military Camp with electricity. It was decided to r,sk for a conference with the Department on tho matter. A number of applications for current wrro referred to the engineer. The. chairman of th~ Finance Committed raid there would be a credit bianco of £4OO after all accounts to date had been paid.
