PAPANUI PROGRESS LEAGUE.
- The monthly moetinj of the Panama Progress Leag-uo was held in the Library nail at Papanui on Monday. Mr W. Pool prsaided over a good attendance of members. A letter was received from the secretary v of the Council of tho Burgesses' Association asking tnat a deputation be received oa the subject of affiliation to the Council of United Burgesses' Association. It was reao.ved that tha d3putiuon be received at the next meeting of the League. : Several items ot interest to the district I wero diicussed, amongst the number beinj tho acquiring of the Langdon ro-d_property as an extension to the existing p.irk; mo that tho City Council be appioached, asking that a light be placed at the subway at tho inter-section of Church street and th> railway line; that all fences overhanging tin .•uotp.-uhs be-out bade to the- correct boundary line. This was shown to be a great nuisance in several atreet3 J that the light at the post office ba kept burning durin? tho evenings; that the by-law relating to the driving of cattle through tho main streets be enforced.
