ATJCKXxAND(SPECIAL TO "THE PHESS.") ! AUCKLAND, December 22. The fruit markets were well stocked to-day, but there was nothing like the keenness in the demand that usually characterises Christmas auctions. The market lor early plums completely collapsed, and they only brou from Is 6d to 2s 6d per case for good quality red, white very green small plums were almost unsaleable. Slightly better prices were ruling for extra good plums, and English brought from ia to 5s per oaae. As reaardfl other fruit, peaches were fairly numerous, and good quality sold at from 6s to 10s, according to grade. Apricot* of good sise and in good condition sold at from 7s to 10s 6d per case, while second gride and small realised 3s €d to 5s 6d. New season's cooking apples, largo sire, in. bushel cases, made from 10s to 16s, and inferior 5s to 7s. Canadian Jonathans brought from 14« to 22a according to condition. Pears, per half-caae, made from 3s to ss. Strawberries brought from Is 3d to 2s, ft few lines making higher prices. No cherries were offered, but two days ago they made £1 per case. Hothouse grapes brought from 2s to 3s per lb. Ripe bananas of good quality realised from 25s to 355, and second grade 10s to 20s. Hepacked Sydney oranges brought 20a to 235: Best grade lemons made from 16s to 22s 6d, and rough and coarse 5s to 10s. DUNEDIN. (SPECIAL TO " THJ PBES3.") DUNEDIN, December 22. Business is brisk in the fruit marts. Good supplies of Central Otago cherries and strawberries have reached the market. Heavy supplies of Ckristchurch-grown tomatoes have alio come to hand. Current wholesale prices are: —Apples, Stunners, extra choice to 15s 6d, others 12s to 13s; Rokewood, prims 10s to 12a, small ss; American, best to 235, others 16s to 18s; tomatoes, Christchurch h</thouse lid to la, choice to Is 2d pir lb; bananas, ripe ,35s to 40s; oranges, American 45b, Adelaide 27s to 28a, Adelaide Valencias 30s; lemons, 29s to 355, as landed; cherries, best lOd to Is 3d per lb, good 8d to 9d, medium 4d to 6d.
