AMERICAN IMMIGRATION LAW.
ADMISSION OF AUSTRALIANS AND NEW ZEALANDEES. (By Cable—Press Association—<3apytlghi.) . (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) (Received August 9fch, 8.55 p.m.) WASHINGTON, August 8. Officials of the Immigration Bureau announce that they will ask Congress to amend the Immigration Law in order to allow the admission of more Australians and New Zealanders. Residents on the Pacific coast have been asking for the admission of more Australians, on the ground that they make type of immigrant. Only 50 New Zealanders and 271 Australians are admissible annually under the present arrangement, and the officials wish for a. minimum of 1200 a year for any nation. This increase will only add between 2000 and 8000 to the total of annual immigration to the United States.
