BgEB-DKEmKEKS' "STATUS QUO" IN MUNICH; (By CaW»—Pr©»» AMociation-OopyrigM.) (Australian and N.Z.' C-able Association.) (Received August 9th, 5.5 p.m.) LOJNDON, August 8. The Munich correspondent of the "Daily Express'' says while Britain is still suffering from war-tiine liquor restrictions, the people of Munich joyously celebrated the return of the beerdrinkers' status quo. A gigantic statue of Gambrimis, the "beer god," was erected in the principal hall, the cellars of which were connected with the mouth of the statue, from which poured a continuous stream of beer of pre-war strength, which was supplied free. Hundreds of men, women, and children brought tankards, pots, and pans, and drank .to the "beer participated in dances. [Gambrinus is the name of ft mythical King of Flanders to whom is ascribed the invention of beer. His figure is familiar in German beer-cel-lars, often seated astride a cask, a foaming tankard in his hand.]
