NAVAL CONSTRUCTION.

In tho House of Commons, in reply to a question, Sir James Craig stated, that Great Britain was constructing six destroyers, the United States 63, Japan eight, France one, and Italy nine. Mr P. A. Hurd suggested that tho witnesses at tho Imperial Defence Committee's enquiry into the question of new naval construction should include those with a special knowledge of tho Dominions' viewpoint. The Prime Minister rfiplied that this was very important, becauso he trusted that the Dominions would talio n. fair part .in any naval construction in the . future. CONFERENCE SUGGESTED. WASHINGTON, December 18. Mr Josephus Daniels, testifving before the House of Representatives' Naval Affairs Committee, said that if tho new Administration decided that the United States should not enter any international association, Mr W. G-. Harding (President-elect) should call a world conforence. The Naval Disarmament Act of 1918 empowered the President to call such a conference.
