NEW BRIGHTON FIRE BRIGADE.
Tha annual general meeting' and 6moke concert of tha Kew Brighton Five Brigade v.'a 3 held on Saturday evening in the Brigado station. Superintendent V. Sherwood presided, and in spite- of the very bitter night thes;o was a fair attendance. The oleetion of officers resulted as follows: —Superintendent, II r V. Sherwood (reelected); deputy-superintendent, Air Y, r . X'uttall; foreman, Mr C. Stokes; secretary and treasurer, Mr C. Stokes; engineer, ill' J. Bellamy; trustees, Messrs K. and C. Stokes; arsistant engineer, Mr F. Stobart. During the cours-a of the evening Mr T. E. Warren presented the Brigade with a very handsome cup, suitably engraved, for competition. Superintendent Sherwood thanked (he donor for his very handsome trophy, which he said would be known a* the Wurrcn cup, and would, he felt sure, be the subject of keen competition. Mr Warren rfas tmanimously elected a lif? member in recognition of tho very earnest interest he had at all times taken in the doings oi the Brigade Fireman F. Ma'c-quin, who saw two years' service at th-j front, w:ta presented by ths chairman with a Jive years' medal. During the evening tho following toasts were honoured :—"Tho King, - ' "Our Senior Cadet Company No. 75," and "The ilavor and Councillors." Instrumental and vocal items were piven by Messrs E. T:!ley-=hor(, F. A. Nuttal, F. Stodart, J. Cook.e, J. Bollamy, and others. A very enjoyable evening was bi-ought lo a eomewhat earlier closo than anticipated b;/ the failure of the electric light shortly before 10.30 p.m.
