Commission sat at KaJioura to-day. -\fe;s:o David Boyd, James Davidson, and Thomas Adair gave evidence- to the effect that the Department had not fostered class eeUleiusnt in tho district, that the present methods of revaluation had a, tendency io penalise, industry .and improvements, estates being allowed to deteriorate, which wai to tho advantage of the holder and militated against successful settlement. It was mentioned that the Clarence reserve, property previously carricd 03,000 sheep, but now "only 18,000, chiefly through tho rabbit pest. The inaccessibility of the estate- made it valueless for clos-r settlement. Tl:o general tenor or the evidence was sra'inst the present method of revaluation. Visible improvements wera now taken into consideration, but invisible improvements were net.
