ASHBURTON ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.
6. The thirty-fourth annual mestizo of the Ashburton Acclimatisation Society was held on Friday, Mr W. Sparow presiding. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £12 Sis. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows: — Council, Messrs T. Weston, A. Cates, P. Coolcson, 11. A. Humphreys, G. H. HelfoTd, "\V. Pa-™?, and F. Crum; hon. secretary, Mr A. G. Pilbrow; hon. auditor, Mr E. T. Hodgson. Mr D. Wood was elccted a. life memlor in recognition of his many services to the caoso of sport, and especially for the valuable it oik he had performed in improving the deer herd by culling-. The erection of a hall at Hakatcre was referred to the Council. The chairman- reported that tho "Wakanui Rood Board had promised to improve the road near tho Mouth, and £10 -was votsd towards the work. The encroachment of the river near tho huts was brought up, and to the Council Jot consideration.
