CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION*. A meeting of the Management Committee of th® Canterbury Cricket Association washeld Inst evening. Present—Messrs D. Redpath (ahtirman), W. H. Winsor, W. R. Patrick, W. L. King, R. B. Ward, J. Reid, C. S. Thompson, and E. E. Luttrell (hon. secretary). A lett«»r from*the secretary of Lancaster Park, Ltd., ia answer to a question' from the committee stated that the question of playing oa the Park had been deferred until December, when it would again be discussed by the Board of Control. However, the supervisor of the work of relaying the Park had strongly recommended that no play should be ellowod before April Ist next. The letter was received. Mr H. B. Gould, eecretary of the Commercial Travellers' and Warehousemen's Association, wrote thanking the committee for its donation of :E3O towards the Lancaster Park Debt Extinctian Fund. Letters were received from tho Malvern, Rangiora, and .Ashburton Associations, giving very satisfactory reports of the progress of cricket in three districts. After some discuiraion, it was decided to accede to the re*iu<jst of the Malvern Association, that the Canterbury and Ellesmere Associations should be invited to send teams to Chrirtchurch on Show Day, and that a Canterbury team be sent to Raniiora on Anniversary Day if acceptable to the Northern Association. It was aleo decided to send a team to Ashburton on ' Anniversary Day. It was further decided jto invite an Ashburton team to play in [ Christchurch on Show Day. j In connexion with these invitations it was decilcd to aslc the visiting association to ! bear half the expenses, not including caterin? expenses. I Messrs Reitl, Patrick, and Luttrell were appointed a committer to select the Canterbury teams for nil the country matches. Messrs J. R"id, A. E. Byrne, A. W. Thomas, nnd_ E. E. Luttrell were appointed a sub-committee to arrange details for those matchte. THE COMING COMPETITIONS. Entries for the Canterbury Association's competitions havo been leceived for the coming season as follows: — First- Grade—Sydenham, Bii-carton, Linwood, East Christchurch, West Christchurch, St. Albans. Second Grade—Sydenham, Riccnrton, Linwood Christ's College, Boys' ili'*h School, Technical College, East Christchurch (2), West Christchurch, St. AlbaTiß (2). Third Grade—Sydenham. Ricoirton, Linwood, Christ's College (2), Boys' Iligh School, Technical College, Keiapoi, East Christchurch (2), West Christchurch, St. Albans. Fourth Grade--Sydenham, Rioearton (2) Christ's College, Boys' High School (2), Technical College. MALVERN ASSOCIATION. In the Malvern Cricket Association's competition, Glentunnel met Gre.ndale ait Greendale, on Saturday afternoon under unfavourable cricket conditions, the weather being showery, particularly in tho late afternoon. Tho scores were:—Greondale 55 (F. Cullen 14, B. T. Hockridge 10); Glentunnel 99 for two wickets (R. Longstaff 49 not out, G. D. March 43 not out). G. D. Marsh (three wickets for 8 nine), F. Smith (four wickets for 22 runs), R. Lonsrstaff (three wickets* for 24 runs) bowled well for Glentunnol. E. Frew was the only successful bowlar for Greondale. Playing in the above competition, Sheffield and Kirwee met in the Kirwee Domain on Saturday. A good game was anticipated but rain, which had threatened all day, came on about 4 p.m. The game waa continued for a time, but was ultimately abandoned. Kirwee made 152, the highest scorers being R. G. Robinson 48 not, out, J. Vaughan 2S, M. 24, A. Roper 19, and Lqhrey 18. Sh"ffi"'d scored 100 for two E. Kelburn 48, and C. W. Wroth 45 not out. Tho most successful bowlers for Sheffield were G. Lillev (five for 25), J. Frnser (two for 30), and C. Johnson (one for 2). The Kirwee bowlers were preatly handicapped with the wet ground and slijrpery ball, and A Stewart (two for 38) was the only bowler who got wickets. AKAROA CLUB.
The annual meeting of the Akaroa Cricket Chib was held on Friday evening, Mr H. W. WiJkins presiding ovor a fair attendance. The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted? the latter 'showing a crcdit balance of £1 2s 6d. Tho election of officers resulted as follow*: —President Mr Geo. Armstrong; vice-pro-sidents, Messrs J. R. Newton, J. H. Williams, and Dr. Cantrell; captain, Mr H. W. "Wilkins; field captain, Mr E. Donnell; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr R. Bruce; comMessrs A. J; Parris, E. Donnell, C. Goodwin, W. Jacob'on, B. Henning, C. Knowles, and T. Maeefield. It w»s nTToed to open the season on Thursday October 23rd, and the members present agreed to form a working bee to put the ground in order before opening day. NORTH CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION. Loburn met Amberley, at Amberley, on Saturday, the match resulting in a win for t the homo team by three wickets and 70 runs, j The scores were:—Loburn 66 (Croft 24, j Dawson 14), and Amberley 137 for seven : wickets (T. Mnskcw 39, Adnms 35, Boyce 20, Neale 12, Marsh 12, and Rhodes 11). For Amberley Mr.son and Boyce bowled best, ana" for Loburn R. Bailey.
