Federation and Clothing Trade Workers' (or tailoressea') Federation, adopted a proposal that all unions <Jf employees in tho tailoring and clothing trades should amalgamate. A deputation representing tho cloth' ing trade workors waited upon tho Acting-Minister of Labour (ine Hon. W. H. Hcrries) to-day, for the pUrposo ; ■ of urging him to conßidor the evils arising out of the registration of outworkers under the Factories Act. Tho Hon, J. T. Paul stressed tho abir.es to which tho present system had been put, and stated that eortain definite evils which had arisen in the clothing trade system encouraged a degree of sweating almost equal to that of tho erlrlior dnys. Ho urged that the practice should bo either prohibited or tnnde subjoct to ihoro strict regulations. Tho Minister was sympathetic towards the deputation, btlt titled those concerned to submit to him definite proposals on the lines ndvocated t and said those proposals would recoivd his consideration.
