REPATRIATION.
DISTRICT ADVISORY BOARDS
(special to "the press.")
DUNEDIN, December 26. In an interview to-day, Sir James Allen outlined the functions of the District Advisory Boards, which are to be set up to a&sist the Central Board in the process of repatriation. He said that he had already given liis opinion as to how tho personnel of these Boards should be selected, but lie understood, that the suggestions had been only partially adopted. The District Board? would bo in close touch with the «istrict repatriation officers, who would be paid officers of the Department under the Director of Repatriation. The Boards would consist of representative men, returned soldiers amongst others, whoso business would be to advise tho Director as to local committees to bo appointed, which committees would have to be widely spread through the country. The District Boards would bo the connecting link between the Director of Repatriation and the local committees. They would co-ordinate the work of the local committees, assist in finding work for men, or in providing vocational training. They would also bo in close touch with tho Industrial Board, which he had intended should, be composed of employers and employees, and would assist the Repatriation Department in all industrial questions, as. for example, the room that esisted in any particular industry, or the room that could be created in any industry for tho employment of repatriated soldiers.
