NORTH CANTERBURY POULTRY CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING.
The annual meeting of the North Canterbury Poultry, Pigeon, and Canary Club was hold last night, the president, Mr CJ. H. Bull, presiding;. • Fourteen members were present. The balance-sheet showed the receipts to have been £180* Is lid, and the expenditure £163 14s lOd, leaving a credit balance of £10 7s Id. In moving the adaption of the balancesheet, tho chairman congratulated the club on having had such a successful year. The motion was adopted. Two new members were elected. Mr G. It. Minifie, who is leaving tho district, forwarded his resignation, which was accepted with regret, and a vote of thanks wa3 accorded him for tho interest he had taken in tho club. A complaint was received from a competitor in the fancy work section that a piece of fancy work entered for competition, and which had gained a first and special prize the year before, was only awarded a third prize. The work, it was stated, ■woe superior to that placed first and second. It was decided to inform the complainant that there was no rule governing such matters ; that tho judge's decision was finn.l, and that a rule guiding tho committee in such matters would bo brought in. A circular was received, from Mr "W. Fraser, a pigeon fancier, complaining .that fanciers . throughout the South Island were debarred from competing in the North Island, the North Island fanciers from competing ■in the South Island, and suggesting the elimination of one rule of each Association which would remove th© difficulty. The matter was referred to the delegate to the South Island Poultry conference, with powor to act. The election of officers resulted as follow*: —President,' Mr C. H. Bull; vice-president, Messrs W. A. Banks, T. I/oveday, and T. Hills; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. C. Wilson; auditors, Messrs C. I. Jennings and J. Marshall. | The patrons were re-elected. The Lovell cup, for junior exhibitor®, was won by Master J. Martyn, with 14 points, Master L. S. Breach being second with 10 points. An honorarium of 10 guineas was voted to the secretary-treasurer. j The offer of Mr W. A. Banks to give ft 1 paper at the March meeting, was accepted.
