OBITUARY.

A Hawera message states that tie death occurred yesterday morning of Mr Arthur S. Tonks, a well-krfown resident. Deceased had been in poor health for several months. With Mr It. Nolan, he developed tho auctioneering business which a few years ago was sold to the Loan and Mercantile Company. Doceased was a successful sheep breeder and exhibitor at A. and P. _ shows. He was also well known in racing, cricket, polo, golf, and bowling circles. Mr Tonks. who was h brother of tho late Mr w. Tonks, of Christchurch, is survived by a widow and two eons. The funeral is to take place in Auckland. A well-known resident of Auckland of twenty years ago died at Bur-, wood, Sydney, on August 22nd—Mr Alexander McCorqnodalo, f&r many years manager of (#Je Northern Roller Mill. Mr McCorquodale, who had reached tho age of eighty-one, was a Scotsman, and was engaged in the flour manufacturing business for virtually his whole life. Mr Alexander McCorquodale'a .first home ini New Zealand was in Wellington. From there he went to Auckland, and finally settled in Sydney, where he founded the firm of McCorquodale Brothers, flour millers, in Sussex street, the produce centre of the city. He is survived by three eons—Messrs Duncan, Norman, and "William McCorquodale—and one daughter, Mrs Norman Lattlejohn. Mr Andrew Graham, who died at Wellington on Sunday, was stationmaster at Balclutba about nineteen years ago. He was at different times stationed at) Edendale, Gore, Napief, Bluff, Port Chalmers, Balclutha. and Timaru. Some ten years ago tho late Mr Graham retired from the railway service on superannuation, being at that time and for* several years president of the New Zealand Railway Officers' Institute. He settled with his family in Port Chalmers, removing Jeo Wellington some four years ago. Mr Graham was all enthusiastic Freemason. *
