AKAROA AND WAINUI ROAD BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of tho Akaroa-Wai-nui Road Boaxtl was hold in the County Council Chambers, Jvuvauchellc, on Saturday. Prosunt—Messrs It. Pettagrcw. W. Warner, T. W. Wilkins, and W. W. Williams. In tho absence of the chairman. (Mr Geo. Aimstrong) Mr Petiigrew was voted to the chair. Tie chairman moved the notice of motion standing in his name: "That ti general late of id in tho £ be levied on all rateable* property under tho Board's jurisdiction." Mr Warner moved as an amendment: "That tho rate for tho year be 9-16 d." The amendment was seconded by Mr Wilkins and carried. The Clerk submitted the estimates for tho current year, which showed receipts, inclusive of 9-lCd rates, £2358 17s Gd, expenditure £13-13 8s lOd. Tho estimates were adopted. Tiie Bank of New Zealand -wrote regarding: the necessary accommodation for tho Board's overdraft for tho year. On the motion of Mr Wilkins the overdraft WS3 fixed at £1500. The Peninsula Technical Association wrote asking fox the usual grant in aid of tho classes held at tho Technical School, Akaroa. The eum of £10 was voted. Mr Geo. Checkley was re-elected tho Board's representative on the Association. Messrs W. D. Wilkins and Sons wrote, re-porting-on tho bridges erected by Mr J. Haywaid, tho contractor, in Robinson's Bay. Tho report being highly satisfactory, payment was passed. _ The Board decided to send notices to owners of property in Wainui with regard to tho grubbing of gorse. Foreman W. Shad bolt was asked to report at next meeting in reference to gorse on tho roads in the Akaroa district. Permission, was granted Mr L. Brocherio to cut down, broom along the old French Farm road. It was decided to meet next Saturday to inspect tho bridge and road, in Paweon's Valley, and Messrs Wilkins, Warner, and Pettigrew were deputed to do the same with rcff&rd to tho French Farm bridge. The chairman reported that ho had had tho metal brought out of Piper's Valley ready for the orusher. His action was approved. As the old coceh stables had been demolished, tho Board decided to ask My. J. Gaskin to arrange for the stabling of members' horses on the days of meeting. Tho Finance Committee's report showed credit Bank of New Zealand £201 14s 3d, cash in hand £13 4s, accounts presented for payment £178 13s Bd.—Adopted. It was decided to hold the annnal meeting of tho Board at noon on Saturday, August 11th. .
