Nelson, who has. been killed in action, was an Old Boy of Nelson College. On leaving college ho went to England to join the Imperial Army, and was afterwards transferred to India to the G7tli Punjaubis. Ho had been with the Indian troops for twelve year?. "While at Nelson College the lau» Captain Everett was captain of tho First Fifteen, head of tho school, etc. He was ono of many who gained a commission in tho Imperial Army troui the Nelson College Cadets. lie was thirty-two years of age. and unmarried. Private W. C. Comport, previously reported missing, now reported killed in action on September 16th, I'JIG, was the eldest, son of -Mr and Mrs W. A. Comport, of ltirnu, West Coast, aud was 34 years of age. lie was a strapping man <3ft 2in in height, and was working at Stuart and Chapman's mill at Rimu when ho enlisted. £oiug away with the Bth Reinforcements. Mr and Mrs Comport's family have been doing their bit in tho great struggle. The fourth, son, Albeit, was killed at Pozieres on July Oth of last 3" cai ") while two other sons have been in the fighting line, Charles being now invalided to England, and John was.ro* cently reported to be wounded in France. Mrs S. P. Stevens has received advicn that her son, Gunner Sydney F. Stevens, has been invalided home. Gunner Stevens left with the Fourth Reinforcements, and saw active service al Gallipoli and in France. Mr F. Foster, Waiau, has received advice that liia son, Lance-Corporal Frederick Jamos Foster, has been Rent from France to Walton-on-Thnmes Hospital, England, with a bad foot. This is the second occasion he lias been in hospital, being wounded in the thigh last May. He left with the 9th Reinforcements, and has seen much fighting.
