The ladie3 connected with the Red Crosa and Lady Liverpool Committees of Scargill and Motunau are working in conjunction with the Horticultural Society for the Annual Show, which is to he held on Thursday nest, when the proceeds of luncheon and sweets stalk, etc., will go to tho benefit of iunde. The branch has sent to the Central Depot during the last month:—4 dressing gowns, 2 waistcoats. 15 nightshirts, 12 bcdy belts, 12 flannel vests', 12 flannel pants, 14 shirts, 23 pairs pyjamas, 23 pairs socks, 10 pairs' bed. socks, 12 Balaclavas, 2 scarws, 1 pair mittens, 34 knitted face washers, 17 dusters, 40 operation cloths, 12 tray cloths, 120 medicine cloths, 238 swabs. The school children who have sent in work are:—lrene and Ella Cherrv. Hilda and Ella Nicholls, Edith and Marjorie Parsons, Dolly Palmer, May Mocket, Muriel Smith. Dorcas White, Dorrie McNally, Dorothy Feathery, Mary South, Alice Feathery, and May Rhodes. Old linen has been given by Mosdamcs Holton, Kcarne, T. Chamberlain, F. Lewton, S. Wornall. and Miss Parsons. •SUMNER. A very successful concert was held at Sumner on. Saturday evening. in aid of the Men's Bandage Committee in connexion with the Sumner Red Cross Fund. The programme was given by Mr F.- C. Raphael's concert party, and thcrefwas a large and apple.iative audience. During the evening a hond-knittcd mnffler and pair of gloves, made and given by Miss<' Joyce, were auctioned by Mr H. Sorensen, and realised £1 5s 6d. Songs were given by Mis* Alys Gower Burns, Miss Edna Joughin, Mr B. B. Wood, Mr T. Charters, and Mr Murray Jones, humorous items by Mr and Mrs Vernon Irving,'Miss D. Davis, and Mr F. J. Macdonald. Instrumental items were given by Mr Ycre Buchanan and Mr F. C. Raphael, while Mr R. J. Murly actsd as accompanist. At the conclusion of the pei-forma-nce the Mayor (Mr J. B. Laurenson) thanked the visitors for the excellent entertainment given, and congratulated the concert party on their praiseworthy efforts in connexion with the war funds, they having given no less than eighty concerts, and realised over £1200. As the result of the evening £15 was realised. HALSWELL. The' following work has been done by the Ha-Iswclt Red Cross branch during August: —One hundred and forty-90ven rolled bandages, 76 4in rolled bandages, 420 triangular bandages, 320 iuanita.il bandages, 200 body binders, 120 slings, 130 jug. covers, 40 wringers, 30 toilet squares, 1 pair bed socks, 10 pairs soldiers' socks, 1 scarf.
T-lic. work for the bandage department of the Christchurch Red Cross done by the Halswell branch from June, 1915, to Juno, 1916, is a& follows:—Two thousand five hundred arid eighty-five rolled bandages, .J6BO munitail bandages, ]G0 bottle covcra', 700 body binders. 250 diet cloths, 50 ioo bags, 2000 triangular bandage®, 750 wringers, 700 fomentations, 650 toilet squares, 500 bundles medicine clothe, 1260 operation cloths, 1160 slings, 100 dusters. 350 jii£ covers, 20 scarves, 10 pairs bed socks, 100 soldiers' socks, 500 swabs, <00 vpils, 300 soldiers' bags, 100 treasure bags, 20 balaclava cape, 40 splints, pad dimjs, and numerous bundles of old linen.
