FIRE BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The Christchurch Fire Board met last night. Present—Messrs H. Holland (chairman), W. H. Cooper, H. R. Rusbridge, J. F. Grierson, W. B. McKenzie, and A. Williams. Mr Grierson complained about the Lower High street tank being closed up. Was the Fire Board going to - stand ' that ? The chairman said the tank belonged to the City Council, wh'rh had the power to close it up. Superintendent Warner reported that since •his last report had been submitted twelve calls had been received. Three were false alarms, two were alarms from outside districts, and 6even wore actual fires in the city. The estimated damage wa« £338, the .insurance on the buildings . and contents amounted to £8450, and the estimated value of the property was £11,175. •
