GOLF.

LTTTELTON CLUB. • The Lytteiton Golf Club held its championship match oh the links at Charteris Bay during the week-end. T. M. Hunter, J. Stokes, C. Mazey, H. Ayers, and F. Knight qualified for tho championship after a series of matches. Knight and Stokes being left to contest the final match. Tho results .were First round—J. Stokes beat T. M. Hunter, Second round—F. Knight beat H. Ager, 10 up and 8 to play. Third round—J. Stokes boat T. M. Hunter, 10. up and 9 to play. Final—J. Stokes beat F. Knight.

Knight finished 2 Tip on the first round, but at the end of the second round score 3 were equal. In the third round heavy rain fell, proving disconcerting to both players. Stokes finished with two holes in the lead. Just after commoncirj the fourth round.both players returned to the pavilion owing to the heavy rain, and Knight withdrew from the contest, leaving Stokes the winner.
