AUCKLAND. January 11
Tiic camp of the Maori Force at Avondalo tvas visited to-day by Sir Joseph Ward. Sir James Carroll. Col. A. M. Myers, M.1 , ., and party. The A Company was at tho Penrose liiflo Range for musketry instruction, and the B Company, which comprises most of the East Coast Maoris, was engaged in field practice. At the camp the visitors tvere received by Captain W. 0. Ennis, Adjutant of the Maori Contingent, and Captain Pitt. Officer Commanding B Company. Tho company performed evolutions by platoons, and also earned cut rifle exercises, tho whole of tlieir work showing a smartness and fini.sh that reflected infinite credit on the officers and instructors.
After exercises the company was formed into a &qnaro of platoons, and chart addresses were given.
