The Wpolston Borough Ccuncil wet Inst .evening. Present: ■ The- Mayor (Mr J. J. Graham), and Crs. T. Newton. D. Jloßac, J. B. Richardson, W. Fuller. L. Hart, A. V. Mouutford, and T. Radcliffe.
A deputation of ratepayers in "Wildberry street waited on the Council and presented a petition in .connexion with the state of the footpaths in the street, which thnv stated were in a very bail etato. Tho Mayor informed the deputation that the matter would receive tho earliest consideration.
The Town Clerk reported that the number of building, permits issued for the quarter ending December 31st, 1914, totalled. 10, the buildings being valued at £2690. and the number of new buildings being six. The financial statement showed: Receipts during December, 1914, £345 14« 10d: dr. bafanc©. general account, £40 12s sd; dr. balance, temporary loan, £2212 5s Id: tr. balance. Supplementary Public Works Loan. £42 6s. Accounts amounting to £91 5s lOd were pa&eed for payment. It was resolved to agree to the Heathcote County Council taking oter control of Canal Iteserve from St. John's street to the Estuary provided the Borough Council's interests wero safeguarded. It was decided, on the recomraend&-> tion of the Works*' Committee, to write to the Tannery Company. drawimx attention to the very dangerous state of the.crossing over tho railway 6idiD£ to the tannery.
Deputations were appointed to wait on the Tramway Board regarding the extension of the 2d section to. Radley street, and to interview the Fire Board in th 6 matter of fire protection for "Woolston.
