ASHLEY.
The Ashley County Council met at Loburn on Friday. Hugh Ensor (chairman), Hiatt, Joyce, Parish, Phiipott, and Wilson. Tho"me of the now road-roller, fully loaded, was authorised. Tho clerk was instructed to get tho fencing repaired at tho Ashley protective works, and to enquire into the matter of cattle, straying on tho reserve. Applications bavin? been received for cocksfoot seed on the roadsides, it was resolved to advertise for tenders. Drainngo matters requiring attention in dry weather were arranged, and certain landowners were requested to open up wator-courses that had been ploughed over or become blocked. It was decided to call tenders for the Glentui and Makirikirj bridges as coon as the plans and specifications were passed by the Public Works Department. It was decided to notify publicly that ten per cent, would be added to rates unpaid by Saturday, January 30th.
